Burnside Hospital - A long-standing ‘romance’…
Our Obstetrics and Midwifery teams are always so thrilled to walk through Burnside Hospital doors, and there are a trillion reasons why.
Below, we share just a few of them…
To start - the entire staff are completely respectful of your individual choices, and the friendly midwifery staff - incredibly experienced. Here, you will begin an excellent breastfeeding journey. And the paediatric team - they’re wonderful, so competent and caring. We must also mention the skilled anaesthetic teams - phenomenal.
The labouring environment is exceptional. Wish to labour outside? Each labour ward room has its own courtyard, so you can change up your surroundings with ease. Ideal for those who might prefer to be mobile in labour.
Once you’ve birthed your baby, the Burnside Hospital post-natal rooms provide a calm and homely environment. They’re the most spacious post-natal rooms in Adelaide, and are anything but clinical. Partners will enjoy this welcoming space also, as you begin (or continue) your parenting journey. Further, the nursery is only a short walk from your room if your baby requires additional care - so you’ll feel close and securely attached.
What makes the early parenting journey a little easier is the nourishment you’ll receive. The food at Burnside Hospital is perfect for recovering from birth - healthy, balanced and plentiful. Seriously delicious.
And when you’re feeling a little more steady on your feet, the surrounding hospital gardens deliver a serene and stunning backdrop for those first few days of baby snuggles. A restful, pretty space in which to ‘soak it all in’.
Lastly - oxytocin - all of our Obstetricians have had our babies at Burnside Hospital - and oh the nostalgia! Oxytocin floods our systems the moment we walk down the corridors, as we can’t help but reflect on our own lovely early mumming days there.
We are thrilled to assist you at Burnside Hospital, and have no doubt you’ll enjoy a truly comfortable and positive experience, as we and our patients continue to have.
